Carolina Pig Pickin' Party

The Brooks' will be smoking half a pig on Saturday, May 7th for the annual Carolina Pig Pickin' at their home. The 12 ticket-winning families are welcome to arrive around 5pm and we will start eating closer to 6. The pig will begin smoking around 4am if you want to join in that early! There will be a couple of homemade North Carolina bbq sauces to choose from, of course if you have your favorite don't hesitate to bring it. We will provide lemonade & water for the kids and a pony keg from a local brewery for adults. We will try to select a beer that pairs nicely with pork. Please bring a side dish and join in on the fun!

Botanist Led Nature Hike

Join HPP mom, botanist/plant ecologist Mandy Tu, for a plant and natural history-guided hike of your choice, within a 2.5-hour drive of Hillsboro. The north/central coast, Columbia Gorge, coast range, Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, or other sites in the Willamette Valley are all possibilities. One bid spot per family (spouses and children). Lunch from New Seasons will be provided. We will mutually work out the details of place, date and transportation.

Santaland at the Larsons

Meet a professional Santa (who just happens to be Xander's "papa"). Santa will read a story to the group, take high quality pictures with the kids, and each child will take home a small gift. Children are encouraged to bring their own Letter to Santa. Light snacks provided. One bidding slot per child, siblings must purchase a slot. Santa (Mark) is a member of the International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santa's. As such he has attended Santa School and been background checked.

Teacher Penny Half Birthday Cupcake Party

Celebrate Teacher Penny's half birthday in style! Professional baker (and green class mom) Pamela Humbird will teach children about decorating cupcakes and they each will get to decorate their own. Then Teacher Penny will arrive and the children will serve her the treats they have made and sing Happy Birthday to her. Room for 6 children, siblings must purchase a spot, not suitable for children under 3.

Craftapalooza

Spend an indulgent day learning how to use stencils and fabric paint to create unique handmade items. Each guest will have the opportunity to create a fabric banner or to personalize their own item. This technique can be applied to any fabric item including apparel, tote bags, fabric napkins or tea towels. This is your chance to "put a bird on it." Party will include all materials to create a banner, plus snacks and drinks. Party to be held Saturday February 7th at 11 am.

While children are not excluded from these festivities, the project will include the use of irons and craft knives and parents are encouraged to include their children at their discretion.

Messy Art Party

Let your child enjoy all the messiest of art projects without having to deal with the mess! Kindergarten parents Kate Le and Mariann Hagland will set up a variety of messy art stations (bubble wrap stomp painting, spaghetti brushes, exploding paint, and more!) and children will be free to explore all the textures and colors with their whole bodies. Plan clothing appropriately :) Snack will be provided. Each child will go home with a t-shirt they have made.

Let's Play Toy Store is on Main St, just a few blocks from our school. The staff there are wonderful, and truly enjoy connecting with families in the community. They will help your child pick out just the perfect toy and they keep a gift wrapping station in the store so you can take care of everything in one stop. They have generously donated this marble construction set that will keep your child busy for hours on end.
